Chicken Love

Love Among The Chickens by P.G Woedhouse.

The bespectacled character in the centre of the picture, appears to be contemplating the chicken that is more attractively drawn than the others on the cover.  The man behind him seems to be looking at him in shocked disbelief at his contemplation.  Meanwhile the woman in the background is looking away covering her eyes in disgust and the chicken appears to be dry retching.

All in all a finger licking good book cover that may leave a fowl taste in your mouth.

65 is all Blue

In the song I'm Blue by Eiffle 65 I they are singing "In Aberdeen I will die, in Aberdeen I will die, in Aberdeen I will die, in Aberdeen I will die."

Actually if you listen long enough you will realise its all about Justin Bieber: "Justin Bieber must die, Justin Bieber must die, Justin Bieber must die, Justin Bieber will die."

No wait.  I think it's something about Hobbits.

Listen carefully the words are "Hobbits beat up a guy, hobbits beat up a guy, hobbits beat up a guy, hobbits beat up a guy."

Yep. Hobbits.
Can't trust them.

Awesome Murals

Over at AllPosters.com I've discovered they sell full size wall murals for the home. There's all sorts there, arty ones, music ones.

I like the retro comic ones the best.  One of these would make an excellent feature in the lounge room or office.

You could even put one in the bedroom.  Nothing sets the right mood like a seven foot image of Thor screaming about his hammer.

Yep, that one is going above the bead head.

Here's the short cut link to the comic murals: AllPosters.com Comic Murals.

Quivering Spears

It has been getting a bit chilly some mornings here.

Many English family were originally derived from family trades or the occupation of ones father.  Which is why there are a lot of Smiths and also names ending in son (meaning son of) such as Woodson.

William Shakespeares Grandad must have been a guardsman that was either often cold or very nervous.

Social Terrorism

From The Urban Dictionary

Social Terrorism

When someone you know comes to visit unexpectedly and inconveniently, often staying for a long time, and you can't tell them to leave without being rude.

"Yesterday, I was just about to go out, and then the doorbell rang. It was Sally, and she invited herself in and stayed for an hour!  It was social terrorism!"

The Bat Man

This is not the Batman you were hoping to meet in the dark alley.

It appears as though the record label decided to airbrush the knife out of Mr Bats hand.  Nothing like an aging man wearing a clown costume, in a dark room to bring your music to the people.

Mona Lisa is 2% Angry

A computer vision expert in Amsterdam used software to develop emotion recognition technology.  A person's face is mapped onto a computer which calculates the expression based on facial points like lip curvature, cheek contraction and eyebrow position.  The system is around 85% accurate which is very close to how accurate humans are.  Won’t be long now before Hal doesn’t need to ask Dave how he’s feeling, he’ll just see and judge for himself.

The software detects happiness, disgust, fear, anger, surprise and sadness, but developers don't yet have the technology to detect more subtle emotions.  Researchers have used this technology to show that the Mona Lisa's expression is 83% happy, 9% disgusted, 6% fearful, and 2% angry.

Emotion-recognition technology could have beneficial uses like detecting if a driver is getting sleepy at the wheel and have an alert signal wake them.  But I anticipate it’s more likely to be used to detect how you feel about certain items while you're shopping.

Here's the researchers website where you can submit your own photo.  Or maybe some other persons photo…
